Meyer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley (2016) (IN-STORE WINE PICKUP with ID)
During a birthday celebration at the French Laundry the Cheng's had a good fortune of trying a bottle of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon the wine critics acclaimed to be an off vintage, but was so well crafted Stanley Cheng reached out to the winemaker about helping him build a winery that would be even better then the wine he fell in love with. It took a lot of work and money, but this ended up being Hestan Vineyards. Stanley started with Mark Herold as the winemaker and today Thomas Rivers Brown. Meyer is all estate fruit, but less new oak thus being more cost effective for your average collector. The 2014 Meyer was #8 in the world on the Wine Spectators Top 100 in 2017!
Notes: This wine has always over delivered for the money and will surpass most $100 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Seductive right out of the bottle and only gets better after 20 minutes of air. The 2016 is showing velvety red and cherry fruit, currant and chocolate. It's medium to full body, textured and a long finish. Well crafted and just itching for a steak or burger!
