01/30/2021 - The three Gunas/qualities - How Food Affects your Mind
There are three kinds of food that a man can eat. (Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic). According to the gunas/qualities (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas), a man’s taste for a particular food is determined. When nourishment is pure, reflection and higher understanding are pure; memory becomes strong. When memory becomes strong, there is release from all the knots of the heart. All three gunas are present in everyone and everything in varying degrees. According to Ayurveda, an ancient medicine practiced in India, balancing once mind and body can be achieved through the food that we eat, which correlates to gunas that we find in this universe. In other words, food is made of one of these gunas, and having them in balance help achieve the equilibrium of mind over body.

- Explore the three gunas/qualities
- Find out how we are influenced by these modes of material nature
- Learn how to cultivate a more peaceful, harmonious existence with nature
